N Scale Model Train Layout Photos

model train

Thanks to Drew Horne of Clearwater, Florida for submitting these great photos of his model train layout.

Here is what Drew had to say:

My Name is Drew Horne I have been building this N scale layout on a 4×4 piece of birchwood since Christmas 2010.

It is my first attempt at a layout and I think it looks pretty good.

My Dad and I rode the McKinley Explorer 2 years ago and it left a lasting memory in my mind and I decided I wanted to do a layout themed after the Alaska railroad.

I have used this layout as a learning tool.

I plan to build a much larger layout in the near future that will be more like the prototype.

I live in Clearwater Florida.

Thanks Drew, that is an awesome model railway and I can just imagine how much fun it would have been to build. Looking at the photos I thought you had been model railroading for a very long time. The scenery is amazing. Well done!

Enjoy Drew’s photos and please comment below.

Dan Morgan

Dan Morgan fell in love with model trains at the age of six when he visited an NMRA Convention in Seattle with his father. Forty two years later, his passion remains just as strong. After achieving a successful career in architecture, Dan’s particular interest is within layouts and buildings. With a wealth of knowledge on the subject, Dan loves nothing more than sharing this with others and is delighted in the forum of members who are brought together over the hobby they have in common. Dan lives with his wife Helen in Washington. As a professional painter, Helen has learnt through Dan about Model Trains and they now enjoy working on projects together. The only member of the family who isn’t allowed to join in is their over-enthusiastic Labrador called William who has been strictly banned from the workshop! You can find Dan on Google here!
