Dan Morgan

Dan Morgan fell in love with model trains at the age of six when he visited an NMRA Convention in Seattle with his father. Forty two years later, his passion remains just as strong. After achieving a successful career in architecture, Dan’s particular interest is within layouts and buildings. With a wealth of knowledge on the subject, Dan loves nothing more than sharing this with others and is delighted in the forum of members who are brought together over the hobby they have in common. Dan lives with his wife Helen in Washington. As a professional painter, Helen has learnt through Dan about Model Trains and they now enjoy working on projects together. The only member of the family who isn’t allowed to join in is their over-enthusiastic Labrador called William who has been strictly banned from the workshop! You can find Dan on Google here!

Just finished viewing your coffee table layout and I must say you are really creative. This can be my answer to a nice n scale layout living in a small apartment. Did you build this yourself? I really liked the idea of the removable top where that can be very useful as a regular coffee table. Did you design it yourself and if so is it possible to get a list of the building materials? Thanks for showing this unique idea.

I really like the HO train layout in progress and watching it through completion
I will start my Layout this winter after I get my mess down stairs cleaned up. I have been impressed with the support of this web sight.

What a wonderful idea. It is such a simple idea and very affective. With the N scale you can get away with that, and the whole family seemed to be involved. It would be interesting to know if they live in a cattle raising area?

It is good to see how the rest of the family got involved with the layout. I liked it and would give it a 4-star rating.

That is a very nice coffee table train set up. Great scale and the ideas work together, tell a story.
The draw is always the best location for controls and power supply cord when out of use. The glass tops make the table useful as well, protects the train and scenery from dust, while letting you view and also run the trains if you wanted to. A very well thought out project. It looks great as well.
    Thanks for the pictures.
