Model railroads can contain so much more movement than just the trains.

All the different working components can create more enjoyment for the owner in the building process, and in the operation as the model railroad comes alive.

Working street lights, operating signals, opening and closing doors, loading and unloading of trucks are some of the more common actions on model railroads.

But the working excavators in these videos are much more complex.

The 2nd video shows the working parts of an operational excavator. Most people would not appreciate the huge amount of design and thought that goes into creating and automating the actions of an operational excavator.
